Angelina Jolie is one of the prettiest women on earth, and very agile judging from her films.

Thumbs Up

Formely, she was married to one of the most handsome men on this planet.

And her brother, Agilino

Agilino is short for Agile in-name-only. If it were a man, this is what Agilino might look like. Pretty awful, right?

Thumbs Down

Agilino Ugly has no appeal, and using a method in-name-only is useless.

You aren’t Agile because you call yourself that name. Ceremonies don’t make you Agile either. A team isn’t Agile just because you have a daily standup or retrospectives. You have an Agile team if you are able to deliver usable code on a regular basis and welcome changing requirements. You have an Agile team if you prioritize face to face communication and the team has a lot of latitude to self-organize.

Teams that are Agile in name only are just like [a] 1 Hour Dry Cleaner […] that doesn’t do dry cleaning in an hour. No matter how great your name, it is the execution that matters.

Lots of organizations and teams claim that they work in an agile manner being able to respond quickly and flexibly to changes in the environment. Even non-IT companies. Probably more often than not, however, their way of working is not based on truly understanding the Agile Manifesto. As not all of you might know, this is where it all started.

Simply implementing an agile methodology like Scrum, re-educating existing developers and adding product owners from business departments doesn't work. As long as developers and business people do not understand and respect each other, do not communicate openly, and do not work as a team towards the same goal, agile is a meaningless term.

The quote states it quite clearly after summing up the most important characteristics of agile development: it is the execution that matters. By the way, if you click on the link that I added below the quote, you can look at a nice animation of the entire story. Convenient for those of you who are interested in the topic and don't feel like reading.

To finish this tale about the two siblings, people who have a different sense of humor or take their business far too seriously, abbreviate Agile in-name-only to AINO. A pale acronym which could mean about anything: Automation Is No Option, Alternative Input Not Obvious, An Invention Nearly Overlooked, etc.

For me, Agilino does not contribute to working better as a team in the interest of an organization's goals. 2)
